Yelp for Agents: More than a Restaurant Guide
We all know referrals are the fastest and easiest way to build our real estate business. It’s also a great way to grow your ACL list, which we all know is essential for making more money. (For a reminder on your Auto-Pilot Cash list see: http://www.glaremarketing.com/2010/06/facebook-friends/)
We wanted to share with you an underused source for great referrals: www.yelp.com
You may have heard of Yelp as a great place to find a new restaurant near you. But it’s great for even more than just dining. In just the month of May, 32 million people turned to Yelp to get recommendations. The site encourages people to post their experiences and rate the places and services they go to and use.
As a real estate agent, Yelp can be a great resource to get personal feedback on your business, and a way for you to build up your stellar reputation in your community.
Get started on Yelp today:
To get yourself set up on Yelp, just click on the “Write a Review” button and then go to the bottom of that page, and under help you will find a link called “Business Owner.” Click on that link and follow the instructions to get yourself listed on Yelp.
Once you’re set up, add pictures of yourself, your team and some of your properties. Then you can send out your personal Yelp link to people on your ACL and ask them to write a review about you and you will be on your way.
Your goal is to get as many (favorable!) Yelp reviews as you can so that you can be in the top listings in your geographic area. When someone searches for a real estate agent in their particular city, you will be found with lots of glowing reviews.

One last quick note about Yelp is that the results also show up in search engines, including Google and Yahoo.
What do you think of Yelp? Have you used it? What have you found and loved on Yelp?
